Roy received a Bachelor of Science degree from Austin Peay State University in 1976, and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1979.

Prior to attending college, he enlisted in The United States Marine Corps and served with the 11th Marines in Vietnam.

He has been practicing law in Dickson County, Tennessee since 1979, specializing in consumer bankruptcy law since 1989.

He is certified as a Consumer Bankruptcy Law Specialist by the
Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization  and by the American Board of Certification.
He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the National Association of Chapter Thirteen Trustees.

Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization

The Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization has certified Roy Wilson as a Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist. Roy was among the first bankruptcy attorneys certified by the Commission under a program established by the Tennessee Supreme Court.

To be certified, Tennessee attorneys must have years of experience in their field, specialized education, pass an examination and receive positive recommendations from other lawyers.

American Board of Certification

The "American Board of Certification" (ABC) has certified Roy Wilson as a Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist. Roy was among the first Tennessee bankruptcy attorneys certified by "ABC."

The "American Board of Certification" program is designed to identify and recognize the attorneys in consumer or business bankruptcy who have met or exceeded the rigorous certification standards relating to experience, continuing legal education, integrity and peer review; in addition to demonstrating a sophisticated understanding of the law in their specialty area.

The goal of the "American Board of Certification" program is to provide meaningful information to those seeking legal services to enable them to make informed decisions in selecting experienced counsel.
